PLEASE SAY ALOHA FOR ME!!!
It's
something I say on-air a LOT.
"When you see an island artist ANYWHERE
(In Hawaii or somewhere else), please say ALOHA for ME."
Since we play just about
everybody, when you see someone that you
THINK you’ve heard on our station, ask them if they know Aloha Joe,
if so, say ALOHA for me! I’m sure that will make them smile more when
you ask for a PHOTO. Send me the snapshots too!
Why is it important?
Well, lately, in Hawaii and around, clubs and
restaurants have downsized their entertainment. Where there used to be 4
performers in a group, now they can only use 2. Some places just have a
single guitar player. It's nice to say hello and to let them
know that
there is MORE TO THEIR WORLD than just the folks they see at their JOBS!
A few years
back, some listeners heard someone playing in the corner of a
restaurant.
They noticed that not many were paying attention to
this gentleman so they went over after a song and said HI. They
also asked him if he knew Aloha Joe. "How's Joe?" He asked.
"I
haven't seen him a long time; glad to know he remembers me!" They
passed along my greetings and he played them a song. It was
FAMILIAR to them as they had heard the song on our station! They
found out that we play this artist all the time.... and that's the
POINT! Here's a guy playing his weekly gig in an isolated
restaurant, not really knowing if anybody has any idea of who he
is and some folks from the other side of the world say
ALOHA and pass along my good wishes!
I'm sure, that
night he went home with a smile on his face and told his
Ohana all about the folks from the mainland! When these
face-to-face meetings occur,
I will usually get an email from the artist saying HOWDY!
So, everyone is smiling!
MAHALO for taking time
to read THE BLOG
and be sure to say ALOHA for me! Aloha JOE®
